Gaza killing ‘must stop’, EU foreign policy chief says in Cairo

In a recent statement made in Cairo, the European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, called for an immediate halt to the killings in Gaza. He condemned the violence that has resulted in a significant loss of life and highlighted the urgent need for international intervention to protect civilians.

Borrell emphasized the EU's stance on the importance of humanitarian assistance reaching those in need in Gaza, particularly as the region faces severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic supplies. He also reiterated the EU's position on the necessity of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which remains a long-standing challenge for peace efforts.

The call for an end to the violence comes amid increasing concerns from the international community regarding the escalating conflict in Gaza, which has caused widespread devastation. The EU's foreign policy chief urged for a renewed commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, stressing that only through peaceful negotiations could the cycle of violence be broken.

In addition to calling for a ceasefire, Borrell pointed out the EU's efforts in providing financial aid to support humanitarian initiatives and rebuilding efforts in the region. The EU has been actively involved in diplomatic efforts to address the conflict, though a lasting solution remains elusive as tensions continue to rise.
